Trisha Yearwood has sold the Tennessee mansion she and husband Garth Brooks share for about a million less than the original asking price — just a day before the country’s former hairstylist and makeup artist sued her for sexual assault and rape.
According to the listing, the 6,553-square-foot home in Brentwood, Tennessee boasts five bedrooms and seven bathrooms and is described as a “haven of sophistication and serenity.”
The couple sold the home for $3.334 million on Tuesday ahead of the shocking allegations – which the Friends in Low Places singer has very publicly denied.
The 4.42-acre property was first listed for sale in May 2023 for $4.5 million. It was previously on the market in 2014. The listing shows the price dropped to $3.950 million in April before dropping again in September to $3.8 million.
Yearwood, 60, bought the home in 2000, five years before she and Brooks, 62, tied the knot in 2005, via Realtor.com.
The sprawling property is described in its listing as an “outstanding historic property” set amid “pristine, private grounds.”
The listing also noted two gated entrances, as well as nine surveillance cameras located throughout the property.
On Thursday, news broke that a woman who claims to have been Brooks’ hair and makeup artist accused him of rape and battery — but the Country Music Awards winner has pleaded not guilty.
He likened the accusations to “waving a loaded gun” in his face.
The lawsuit, filed in a California court on Thursday by a woman identified only as “Jane Roe,” says Brooks allegedly raped her in a hotel room where she was alone and felt “trapped” by the artist.
At the time, in May 2019, the pair had allegedly just traveled alone on his private jet to Los Angeles for a Grammy shoot.
The alleged victim was originally hired as a hair and makeup artist for Yearwood in 1999, but then transferred to Brooks’ team in 2017, the lawsuit states.
In addition to the sexual assault and battery, Brooks is accused of repeatedly exposing his genitals and buttocks, talking about sex and sharing sexual fantasies with Roe, regularly changing his clothes in front of her and sending her clear text messages. sexually, according to the complaint. case, provided by CNN.
The lawsuit alleges that these incidents occurred in 2019.
“We are confident that Brooks will be held accountable for his actions,” attorneys Douglas H. Wigdor, Jeanne M. Christensen and Hayley Baker said in a statement to CNN.
Brooks previously denied his accuser’s allegations and tried to block Roe from publicly repeating her allegations, according to an earlier complaint he filed as “John Doe,” according to CNN.
He alleged that Roe’s legal representation sent him a “confidential” question letter alleging sexual misconduct after he denied her request for “salaried employment and medical benefits,” the newspaper reported. But Roe’s lawyers contend the preemptive complaint was an act of desperation to intimidate and silence his accuser.
CNN reported that in a statement from his publicist, Brooks stated that he filed the anonymous complaint nearly a month ago “for the sake of the families on both sides” and to speak out against extortion and defamation of character.
“For the past two months, I have been endlessly bombarded with threats, lies and tragic stories about what my future would be if I didn’t write a multi-million dollar check. It was as if a loaded gun was being waved in my face,” explained the star.
“Hush money, no matter how much or how little, is still hush money. In my mind, that means I’m condoning behavior that I’m incapable of—ugly acts that no human should ever do to another.”
Brooks added that he wants to focus on his career and continue playing music and doing “good works,” but his heart “sinks” that his integrity is being questioned.
“I trust the system, I’m not afraid of the truth and I’m not the person they painted me as,” he concluded.
